Industry sectors
In Europe, two thirds of employed people work in services, which are steadily growing to the detriment of industry and agriculture. Employment in agriculture is still above 10% in most new member states. Throughout Europe, employment in the public sector varies from 15 to 35%.

Market services cover commercial services from trade and transport to financial and business services. Non market services are non profit services, public or private.

Did you know?
• In 2005, Romania was the only country where agriculture and industry summed up over 50% of employment. Services are prevalent in all other countries. • In Czech Republic and Slovakia, almost 50% of men worked in industry in 2005.
• On average, the public sector represents over 20% of employment in EU 25.
